Day Seven

The past few entries have been very emo and deep and insert-violin-instrumental-ish. Today I shall go really babaw and focus on the superficial. Hehe. ;)

(As always, ICYMI, here's Day Six.)

Day One: Ten best things about being alive.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself that you like.
Day Three: Eight things you know for sure.
Day Four: Seven things that make you laugh.
Day Five: Six things you are thankful for/appreciate every day.
Day Six: Five people in whom you perceive Ultimate Goodness.
Day Seven: Four turn ons.
Day Eight:  Three things you want to do for your community/ the world.
Day Nine: Two things you think you need to work on personally.
Day Ten: One thing you'd like to change about your life.

1.  A fine butt.
2.  Clean hands (same goes with feet)
3.  An awesome sense of humor
4.  An air of geekiness (or just general awkwardness)

Day Six

Ack! It's a good thing I made that warning about not being able to write on consecutive days. The past few days have been a little hectic. Right now, we're actually waiting for our turn with the pedia. Lucia has this rash that just won't go away and she's due for some shots.

There, as a testament to how hectic it has been, this paragraph is being written a full day and a half after :p. It's all good though. I'm savoring my last few days with Lucia since I'm due to go back to work on Monday. Oh, how horrible that'll be.

But I don't want to think about that yet. Hmph.

Okay, so now on to Day Six! (ICYMI, here's Day Five.)

1.  Lucia - I still don't know what I did to deserve her. I believe that goodness exists because she is in my life; she is the ultimate manifestion of God in my life.

2.  Chaddy - It was the song playing when I walked down the aisle for a reason. "Somewhere in my youth or childhood, I must've done something good. For here you are standing there loving me, whether or not you should." :')

3.  Sara - My best friend. If you know her, you would understand. If you don't know her, then you should go meet her.

4. and 5. Mama & Papa - This isn't a cop out, I really need to put them here together. I did this because they bring out what is good in each other. One of my ultimate goals as a married woman is to have a marriage much like that of my parents.

Day Five

You will have to excuse me because I'm trying to simmer down right now. I swear, sometimes I think you-know-who (YKW) is out to ruin good days on purpose!

But that's all the drama I'll allow it to have for now, because actually, the past two days have been great! My Tita came through with much needed help with the most perfect timing, so my days with YKW will soon be a thing of the past! More than that, Lucia will have access to things and places that Chad and I believe she deserves. But I'll talk about that in fuller detail some other time...;)

Another awesome development is that my best friend has given birth to a healthy baby boy! We've been doing everything together since our pre-teens, and so I am selfishly thrilled for myself that I can enjoy (and languish sometimes) in first time motherhood as well. And yes, matchmaking is deliciously inevitable. Sorry, Duckie. (Hehehe...)

So see? YKW's negativity pales in comparison to the wonderful things that the new year has brought so far. God is good! Praise God from whom all blessings flow! :D

Okay, so now on to Day Five! (ICYMI, here's Day Four.)

Day One: Ten best things about being alive.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself that you like.
Day Three: Eight things you know for sure.
Day Four: Seven things that make you laugh.
Day Five: Six things you are thankful for/appreciate every day.

Day Eight:  Three things you want to do for your community/ the world.
Day Nine: Two things you think you need to work on personally.
Day Ten: One thing you'd like to change about your life.

1.  Chaddy and Lucia
2.  My family: the Pascuals, Navarros, PizaƱas, and my Diyosas
3.  Knowing that I have most of what I truly need to survive the day
4.  Working for the sheer love of teaching and not for the money (for there isn't any, hehehe...)
5.  Having a Yaya to help out with Lucia
6.  New things to read and discover

Day Four

Happy new year, everyone! Hope your celebrations were wonderful. Ours was very simple and low key. Most of the night was spent calming Lucia down because she got spooked with all the noise. Sigh!

Anyway. On to Day Four! (ICYMI, here's Day Three.)

Day One: Ten best things about being alive.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself that you like.
Day Three: Eight things you know for sure.
Day Four: Seven things that make you laugh.
Day Five: Six things you are thankful for/appreciate every day.

Day Seven: Four turn ons.
Day Eight:  Three things you want to do for your community/ the world.
Day Nine: Two things you think you need to work on personally.
Day Ten: One thing you'd like to change about your life.

1.  Chaddy (swear, para kaming sitcom sometimes)
2.  When Lucia laughs or smiles while she sleeps
3.  When Papa teases Mama, hehehe...
4.  Will & Grace (Don't you just miss that show?!?)
5.  Conversations around the English SA table (oh, if only the students knew...)
6.  My kids, when the give epic presentations :)
7.  Conversations about nothing and everything with my friends

On to Day Three! (ICYMI, here's Day Two.)

Hmmm. Today's task is a little difficult. :-/

Day One: Ten best things about being alive.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself that you like.
Day Three: Eight things you know for sure.
Day Four: Seven things that make you laugh.
Day Five: Six things you are thankful for/appreciate every day.

1.  Jesus died for my sins, and I am saved. (Okay, this isn't know-know as much as it is faith-know, but that's still a "know".)
2.  Chaddy is the love of my life.
3.  Lucia gives meaning and purpose to my life.
4.  Skittles will always bring me Joy.
5.  Writing is my one true therapy. Beer comes closely in second. Hehehe.
6.  The Dunstan System works. Seriously.
7.  Teaching is not just my life's passion, it's my calling.
8.  My friends are not just like family, they are family.

Day Two

On to Day Two! (ICYMI, here's Day One.)

1.  I am full of milky goodness. Haha! (Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to meet the demands of my very takaw daughter!)
2.  For all my faults, I seem to fit perfectly with Chaddy's perfections and imperfections. I love my husband, I love our marriage.
3.  I'm a nerd, but at least I got mad social skillz, yo.
4.  I think I'm funny. Well, I crack myself up, that's for sure. (I travel with a constant rimshot in my head. *badamdamching*)
5.  It's mababaw, but I really like my, er, oral area? (Teeth and lips.) Haha!
6.  I come from a very crazy yet unbelievably caring family, and my childhood is brimming with wonderful memories because of them.
7.  I really, really, REALLY love my job.
8.  I can hear stuff very well. Labo nun a. I mean, I can tell when something's even slightly off key, I can hear the nuances in accents and inflections, I can decipher what Lucia's cries mean fairly easily, that sort of thing. It was a pretty trivial skill until the arrival of ze litol Duckie.
9.  My OCD cripples me, but it also keeps me alive, so I might as well like that about myself...like it enough to let go a little? A few germs won't hurt, right?

...GASP!!! I take it back! I can't even jest about it. Hahaha!

Day One

Happy holidays!!!

So obviously, I've been busy. In lieu of an actual update on this new adventure, here's a meme! (Natch.)

I've been feeling really crappy the past few days because of you-know-who, so here is my attempt to focus on the positive, the real, the important, and the lasting. Saw this meme in a friend's blog and loved the idea behind it, so here it goes!

(Full disclosure: I may not be able to do this on consecutive days, but I shall do my best to do all ten days' tasks.)

1. Family; the one I have now with Chaddy and Lucia and the one I had growing up.
2. Stories; reading them, writing them, and watching them on film.
3. Friends, REALLY good friends.
4. Music
5. Chocolates
6. You know that feeling when you REALLY need to but you can't and then you FINALLY do get to pee? THAT feeling.
7. Cooking for Chaddy, breastfeeding Lucia
8. Teaching
9. Laughter
10. Silent moments with Chaddy when we don't need to talk to have a conversation.

Venti Vent

A lot has happened in a month. For starters, Luci has gained 2.2 pounds and is about 3 inches longer. The pedia said she's very healthy with strong and clear lungs. She also put us on a different formula because I noticed that ants would crawl around the powder -- didn't like the idea of giving her too much sugar (I mean, if she inherited my sweet tooth and then we make it worse with the formula then we're screwed). Overall though, the pedia gave a glowing report, which is a big relief for this frazzled first-time mom.

Paniki

My husband and I had to do errands today (registering Lucia's birth, getting loans in order, etc.) so we had to leave her with my MIL for a few hours. Actually, I'm still at the doctor's clinic, waiting for my OB so she could check on my incision and all the blechy business of the operation. I insisted on having Chad go back to the house ASAP though because I really have been a nervous wreck the whole morning. This was the first time we both left her at the house. Guh.

What if she cries and realizes I'm not there and her tiny heart will think I abandoned her?

First Item on the List: Stop Making Lists!

As I lay here, trying to restrict my movements (because Lucia is using me as a pillow), I am taking stock of my surroundings. I smell like milk, baby wipes, Lysol, soap, and my husband's shirt (he left his shirt for Luci to play with while he is at work). I am overwhelmed, exhausted, and eerily calm.

It has been a little over a week since Lucia finally arrived, and life has been overwhelming, to say the least.

Seriously?

Yep, seriously. Still pregnant.

Ten months and three days pregnant to be exact. I've been impatient, bored, and now flat out anxious-slash-panicky.

Was that a contraction or a kick? Why isn't she kicking as much? Have I taken enough fluids for the day? If I eat this piece of bread will make my baby become too fat for a normal delivery? Was that water leqking or just more of my usual discharge (gross alert)? Should I walk some more? Why do I feel so tired? Why can't I sleep properly at night, but sleep fine during the day -- does this mean my baby will be nocturnal? Why don't I have that nesting instinct thing going on? Is it because I don't live in our own home? Is that why Luci won't come out? Can she feel that?

And why the hell is she so bleepin' nega all the time?

...And that's just the first, oooh, 3.75 minutes of the day. You wouldn't want to know what goes on inside my head during the rest of the day.

Chaddy's a bit frantic as well (in fact, he just called to tell me to eat something and see if she'll kick). He hasn't been able to sleep properly in ages (there's always so much to do!) and I seriously worry about him. Hopefully, things'll ease up when my Mom arrives (in a few hours!). I'm hoping she can calm me down and offset any bad vibes, if you know what I mean.

I've been given advice as to how to speed all this up -- from the mundane (walk, walk, walk) to the bizarre (visualize; pretend you're the baby and visualize your own birth). With the amount of free time I have, I haven't encountered any advice that I had not previously read about or discussed with my doctor though.

Ah, but there is one advice that is quiet and persistent...and the one that I hate the most: Be patient for I am in control.

(((sigh)))

Hay. Si God talaga o...

I just...I just hope everything's okay in there.

I hope my next entry will be on the flipside of this whole journey. Can't wait to complain about engorged breasts and stuff. :p
